Implantology

Implantology is the branch of dentistry that has transformed the lives of people around the world through the placement of dental implants to replace missing teeth.

A dental implant is a titanium screw or another biocompatible material that is placed into the jawbone and serves as an artificial tooth root. A dental crown is then attached to the implant, restoring both the function and aesthetics of your smile.

How Does It Work?

The process usually involves several steps:

  • Examination and treatment planning using X-rays and/or a 3D scan.

  • Placement of the dental implant into the jawbone.

  • Healing period (osseointegration), during which the implant fuses with the bone.

  • Placement of the final crown, restoring the appearance and function of the tooth.

Benefits of Dental Implantology

  • Restores the natural appearance of your teeth.

  • Improves speech and chewing function.

  • Helps prevent jawbone loss.

  • Does not damage adjacent teeth.

  • Offers long-lasting durability with proper maintenance.

Is the Procedure Painful?

The answer is no. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, general anesthesia, or conscious sedation, ensuring that patients do not experience any pain during the dental treatment or afterward.

Dental implants can be divided into two groups based on several of their characteristics:

  • Traditional Dental Implants

  • Advanced Dental Implants

1. TRADITIONAL DENTAL IMPLANTS

Traditional dental implants are the classic implantology techniques that have been used successfully for many years. These implants are surgically placed into the jawbone at the site of a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth.

Characteristics:

  • Placed after complete healing of the gums or following tooth extraction.

  • Require several months for osseointegration (the process by which the implant fuses with the bone).

  • Used to replace a single tooth or multiple missing teeth.

This is a well-established and widely practiced method; however, it is primarily used for individual cases. The costs can vary significantly depending on the complexity of the procedure and the need for additional treatments.

2. ADVANCED DENTAL IMPLANTS

Advanced implantology combines digital technology, surgical precision, and modern aesthetics to provide safe, comfortable, and long-lasting results.

These include:

  • Immediate implants (placed immediately after tooth extraction)

  • All-on-4 / All-on-6 / All-on-8

  • Guided implant surgery with 3D digital planningImmediate loading implants

  • Zygomatic implants

Characteristics:

  • 3D digital planning

  • Maximum precision in placement

  • Minimally invasive procedures

  • Immediate loading

  • Personalized treatment for each patient

  • Solutions for complex cases

Advantages:

Shorter treatment time

  • Higher precision

  • Faster recovery

  • More natural aesthetics

  • Greater comfort for the patient

The choice between traditional dental implants and advanced implants depends on the patient’s unique dental needs, bone health, and personal preferences.

However, a consultation with a specialized implantologist such as Dr. BUDO helps determine the most appropriate treatment plan for each individual case.
